Attitudinal Language of Flora and Fauna Discourse on an Indonesian Tourism Website: Appraisal in Ecolinguistics

This paper reports the appraisal analysis - particularly attitudinal language of Indonesian flora and fauna discourse on official website tourism by examining 11 articles, accessed www.Indonesia.travel. qualitatively identifies appraised features denoting examined their appraising resources applying Martin & White’s (2005) framework. Through lens interpersonal meaning, this criticizes how communicates through in to global readers. Findings reveal that affect, judgement, appreciation function several ways: introduce endangered endemic species, present government’s seriousness preserve promote happiness satisfaction tourists can feel when visiting sites. From an ecolinguistics point view, presents a beneficial since it does not focus feelings may have but natural phenomena.
